MAIOLICA, MYTH AND THE MINOTAUR
Come to the Gardiner Museum to learn about Greek and Roman myths, the Italian Renaissance, ancient ceramic techniques and more. Students will view the Museum’s beautiful collection of Italian Renaissance ceramics. These 15th and 16th century pieces have wonderfully colourful illustrations depicting scenes of various Greek and Roman myths.
The full day program includes audio-visual presentations, worksheets, and sketching in the galleries. Later, studentswill join professional ceramic artist in the clay studio to create their own 3-D heroic figures or mythical beasts.
This program is recommended for grade 3 and up, and in particular for those studying mythology, Italian history, and the Renaissance.
