Clay Classes - Spring 2010

The Gardiner Museum's clay classes offer creative fun for young adults and adults. Participants at all levels of experience--including absolute beginners--will learn the techniques of creating ceramic art by forming and decorating their own hands-on projects in clay.

Instructors are all professional ceramic artists with years of experience helping participants achieve their goals. Sessions are informal, with time for experimentation as well as a focus on technique.


Classes are offered for all age groups:


Combo Classes in March/April 2009 (3 weeks)
Hand-Building and Wheel-Throwing

Try your hand at a variety of techniques. Use the potter’s wheel and explore the tools and techniques for hand building. Combine both approaches and decorate your work with glazes and textures.

SCULPTURE CLASS
In conjunction with FROM THE MELTING POT INTO THE FIRE, ceramic artist Lynn Fisher will teach a sculpture course, with students’ work being displayed at the Gardiner Museum at the culmination of the four weeks.

WHEEL THROWING
Learn the basics of throwing on the potter’s wheel in a small class taught by a professional potter. Eight sessions give you the opportunity to learn to make and decorate a variety of shapes.

CHILDREN'S CLAY CLASS
Create water fountains, birdhouses, balcony and patio pots to enhance your outdoor space. 8 sessions over a two-month period.

MARCH BREAK CAMP
Children are invited to join us for a week-long clay camp during March Break.  Campers will learn about clay through hands-on projects led by professional ceramic artists.
