Family Day

Every Sunday

Free with Admission

Ever wonder what to do with your family on a Sunday?  Well look no further! Join our mascots Arabella, Ting, Clayton and Nicco, and bring the whole family to the Gardiner to family-friendly activities — free with admission! Kids under 12 are always free (with the accompaniment of an adult).

Most activities take place in the lobby, but if you don’t see us when you come in, just ask one of our friendly volunteers where they are taking place.

Family Days run from 11 am to 4 pm with activities for children to do on their own or with an adult. Make sure you also check out our discovery boxes, do a scavenger hunt and take some colouring sheets home with you.

We look forward to seeing you here!

Upcoming Family Days:

AUGUST 3, 2014

What’s sweet, tasty and full of juicy goodness?  Watermelons, of course! and today marks National Watermelon day where you are invited to come to the Gardiner to paint one of summer’s favourite fruit on a ceramic tile.   While watermelon is mostly water, it sure looks good when it’s painted on a tile.

Come to the Gardiner Museum and be inspired by the colourful displays of costumes, dance and live music on the streets of Toronto this weekend.  Use splashes of colours to paint your own ceramic tile to capture your favourite moment this weekend.

AUGUST 10, 2014

Inspired by National Smore’s day, why not create your own miniature campsite out of clay with the help of ceramic artist Jessica!   If you’re been to a camp fire, chances are, there’s smores.  Have fun creating your own sticky, messy sweet treat with clay, and we are sure you’ll be asking for some’more!

AUGUST 17, 2014

Reduce, resuse and recycle as today is National Thriftshop Day.  Come to the Gardiner and paint your own ceramic tile and then visit a local thrift shop to see if you can find other nifty items to add more pizazz to your piece!

AUGUST 24, 2014

Did you know that today marks the date in 79 AD that Mount Vesuvius erupted in a huge explosion in Rome? It was one of the largest volcanic explosions in recorded history.  Learn how to create a miniature mountain of clay with ceramic artist Jessica to mark this historical event. Then take a look at our Italian Renaissance Maiolica Gallery for some inspiration of mountainous terrains.

AUGUST 30, 2014

Going on a hike this weekend? Why not bring some trailmix along as today is National Trailmix day.  Come to the Gardiner and add your own artistic flavor to the healthy and energy booster snacks. Go nuts with the colours as you paint your own combination of trail mix.
