Free with Admission
Ever wonder what to do with your family on a Sunday? Well look no further! Join our mascots Arabella, Ting, Clayton and Nicco, and bring the whole family to the Gardiner to family-friendly activities — free with admission! Kids under 12 are always free (with the accompaniment of an adult).
Most activities take place in the lobby, but if you don’t see us when you come in, just ask one of our friendly volunteers where they are taking place.
Family Days run from 11 am to 4 pm with activities for children to do on their own or with an adult. Make sure you also check out our discovery boxes, do a scavenger hunt and take some colouring sheets home with you.
We look forward to seeing you here!

12 TREES FAMILY DAY SPECIAL!
It’s that time of year again. It’s our annual 12 Trees Family Day at the Gardiner Museum. Tour around the museum to see the wonderfully decorated trees. After drawing inspiration please join us in the lobby and lecture hall for various activities. Kids can make something out of clay with clay instructors Karen and Audrey, make paper craft decorations, or gingerbread decorating with our Gardiner Volunteers. Don’t miss out as it only comes once a year. Hope to see you there!

Have you ever thought of the similarities between clay and snow? They both come from nature and can be shaped into many different things. Draw some inspiration from the season and come to Family Day this Sunday to make your own clay sculpture. The advantage: it won’t melt. If you’re lucky, your sculpture could last longer than those in the Ancient Americas collection…

December 21st marks the longest night and shortest day of the year in the north. Ancient sites such as Stonehenge in England and Newgrange in Ireland hold a strong connection with this day of the year. Come to Family Day and celebrate the longer days to come by decorating tiles with day and night motifs. Happy winter solstice!

The Holidays offer an opportunity to celebrate sharing. Think of your ideal gift to someone loved and make it out of clay at Family Day this Sunday. All you need is clay and imagination. They will love it!
