Every Sunday, 11 am to 3 pm
Ever wonder what to do with your family on a Sunday? Well look no further! Join us for a fun day of family-friendly activities at the Gardiner.
Family Sunday activities are included with your general admission, and kids under 12 are always free.*
Family Sundays run from 11 am to 3 pm every Sunday, with activities for children to do on their own or with an adult. Make sure you also check out our discovery boxes, do a scavenger hunt and take some colouring sheets home with you.
Most activities take place in the lobby, but if you don’t see us when you come in, just ask our friendly front desk staff where they are taking place.
We look forward to seeing you here!
SUNDAY MAY 29, 2016 | 11 AM – 3 PM
This Sunday, as we anticipate summer, we'll be carving images into a clay surface and turning them into rings! What does summer look like to you? Come up with an image and then attach it to a ring made out of clay. Once it dries, you'll be able to rock your ring to celebrate summer’s arrival.
SUNDAY JUNE 5, 2016 | 11 AM – 3 PM
Get in the summer mood by painting brightly coloured fruit on ceramic tiles. Peaches, berries, and other seasonal harvests become interesting patterns when mixed with sharp summer tones. Meet us on the plaza or inside the lobby in case of rain.
SUNDAY JUNE 12, 2016 | 11 AM – 3 PM
While for some this may be the time to travel or go camping, it's also the best time of year to pursue creative projects, and what better place than on the Gardiner's outdoor plaza. Join us this Family Sunday to make suitcases out of clay. Visit our contemporary gallery for an astonishing example of realism and trompe l’oeil, and enjoy the lovely weather as you sculpt with clay.
SUNDAY JUNE 19, 2016 | 11 AM – 3 PM
How many Canadian birds can you name? Join us for this edition of Family Sunday when we'll paint different local birds on ceramic tiles. Start by creating a dark outline of a cardinal or blue jay and fill it in using bright colours.
SUNDAY JUNE 26, 2016 | 11 AM – 3 PM
Join us this Sunday to build shadow tracers. This unusual sculpture will help you take advantage of the sunny days as you track the sun’s movements. You'll sculpt small shapes out of clay and carefully join them with toothpicks. Meet us in the lobby!
* Children under 12 years of age receive free admission to the museum at all times. Children must be accompanied by an adult to participate in Family Sunday activities, and each accompanying adult must purchase a general admission ticket. Children cannot be left unattended at any time.
