Experience a world of giants, colour, whimsy and fun.

AN EXHIBITION OF EPIC PROPORTIONS, the playful work of California artist Viola Frey (1933-2004) is an exciting combination of ceramics, painting and sculpture. This exhibition offers a rare opportunity to see some of her most extraordinary work.

The first retrospective of Frey’s career and legacy since her death in 2004, this ground-breaking exhibition features work from leading public and private collections in the United States including the Artists’ Legacy Foundation, the Nancy Hoffman Gallery, the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

BIGGER, BETTER, MORE: THE ART OF VIOLA FREY opens September 10 and runs through January 10, 2010. After Toronto, the exhibition will travel to the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City.

For the First Time:
Recent Acquisitions 2005 - 2009

September 2, 2009 - January 10, 2010

The Gardiner Museum regularly acquires new works of art for its collection through both gifts and purchases.  This exhibition features a selection of the objects acquired between 2007 and 2009 that have not been publicly exhibited before. The debut of these pieces allows visitors to see how the museum’s collection is continuing to expand and develop in its 25th year.
