ABOUT TORONTO POTTERS
Toronto Potters is a not-for-profit, volunteer-run association of community-oriented potters and ceramic artists. The group had its genesis in 1979, and after 37 years, Toronto Potters continues to flourish and provide a nexus for social and professional development, with regard to both career and skills learning. The group is also committed to provide outreach opportunities for the promotion of the clay arts to the general public. Toronto Potters consists of makers, teachers, collectors, and ceramics enthusiasts. Given the diversity of Toronto, many members have relocated to Canada from various parts of the world, which adds to the vibrancy and texture of the work presented in its biennial exhibitions. Toronto Potters provides creative opportunities for its members by mounting biennial juried exhibitions, holding monthly meetings with guest lecturers, providing educational workshops, publishing e-newsletters, holding biennial sales of members’ work, and fostering community.
Awards are sponsored by Craft Ontario, Fusion Clay and Glass Association, the Gardiner Shop, Ontario Arts Council, Pottery Supply House, Spectrum, Toronto Potters, and Tucker’s Pottery Supplies. The awards will be announced at the opening on October 14.
