Are you ready? Are you open? Are you willing? Touch is immediate. It can only happen in the here and now. In this two-hour workshop, engage in clay exercises designed to call attention to habits of belief, judgments, and the stories we tell ourselves. With self-compassion, we will create possibilities to loosen their hold on us by working with the malleability of clay.
The emphasis will be on the process of working with clay and the act of reclamation. At the end of each workshop, the clay will be returned to its original form, letting go of what was created, ready to begin anew. This workshop welcomes participants of all skill levels.

Instructor
Suzanne Thomson
Suzanne Thomson is a ceramic artist, registered psychotherapist, and art therapist with 30 years of experience integrating these practices to facilitate healing, community building, and social transformation work. As a practitioner of Zen Buddhism with training in contemplative arts, sensorimotor psychotherapy, narrative therapy, and trauma-informed approaches, she offers psychotherapy and clinical supervision. She teaches at the Toronto Art Therapy Institute and has taught at the University of Toronto. Transformation by Fire: Women Overcoming Violence Through Clay, a 10-year retrospective at the Gardiner Museum facilitated by Suzanne, won the 2013 OMA Award of Excellence in Exhibitions. It is a direct reflection of her deep commitment to working collaboratively to address social justice issues through the arts.
