The Gardiner Museum is open seven days a week. Explore our permanent collection, discover special exhibitions, get hands-on with clay in our studios, dine, shop, and more. We look forward to welcoming you!
Enter a world at once familiar and uncanny. The exhibition hall has been transformed into an immersive reimagining of Montreal-based artist Karine Giboulo's home. Brought to life by over 500 miniature polymer clay figures, this is no ordinary house. The figures tell stories that reflect our most urgent social issues, from the pandemic and climate crisis to food insecurity and housing instability. Get tickets!
From now until January, join us every day in the lobby for Wish in Clay, a family-friendly community clay activity, included with adult admission and free for kids. We supply the materials and you bring your creativity!
Every object in our permanent collection can be accessed through our eMuseum portal. Learn about individual collecting areas, like Italian Maiolica or Modern and Contemporary Ceramics, or search the full collection by keyword. You'll be amazed by what you discover!
Limited time offer! Purchase or renew a Gardiner Friendship before January 1, 2023 and receive a free Get Acquainted pass (valued at $30) to gift to the art lover of your choice. Become a Gardiner Friend today!
Space is limited and tickets sell out very quickly, often immediately. If you’re not able to secure a spot, please try again next time.
Tickets are sold online starting at 5 pm the evening before until they have sold out. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Customers may purchase up to two (2) tickets per transaction, while supplies last. We are currently limiting participation to age 18 and older.
Please check in at the Front Desk upon arrival for the class. Bring a piece of ID as you will be asked to produce one while checking in. If you have selected the Student or Gardiner Friends rate, you will be asked to produce the appropriate ID upon arrival for the class. Unless your membership is at the Friends & Family level or higher, each participant will require their own student or membership ID.
About THIS CLASS
Our drop-in classes are perfect for potters of all levels. Experiment with various hand building, wheel throwing, and decorating techniques, and then take your creations home with you! You’ll have access to an experienced artist instructor in a professional ceramics studio, including a variety of tools, earthenware clay, and more than 70 commercial brushing glazes.
You will need to attend two (2) drop-in classes to create a glazed piece—the first for making and the second for glazing. Firing takes two (2) weeks and is generally done once after making and again after glazing. The cost of firing is a minimum of $5 per piece depending on its size, which can be paid at the front desk. You do not have to fire or glaze your piece.
Picking up your piece
Clay pieces can ONLY be picked up during the following times:
Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am – 5 pm
Firing takes two weeks to complete, and pieces will be held for an additional 3 weeks. Please check in at the Front Desk and note that there may be a short wait depending on staff availability. We do not provide bags or boxes.
*The minimum firing fee is $5. You may be charged more for larger pieces.
