Gracia Isabel Gomez: “Tealicious” White Chocolate Mug with Colours



Gracia is interested in exploring themes related to colonialism. Using cultural symbols and traditions, her aim is to help heal the wounds from the past. The tableware line “Hot Chococlay” has wheel thrown and hand-built segments that are assembled together to reference milk and chocolate. Get cozy and enjoy a hot drink in one of these delectable mugs. Each will slightly vary in colour, pattern, size, and weight.

Care & Use: Mugs are food, microwave and dishwasher safe, although hand washing is recommended. Can be very hot after placed in the microwave, please handle with care. Avoid drastic temperature changes.

Material: Made of cone 6 porcelaneous smooth stoneware and a dark rough sculpture clay, fired in oxidation.

About The Artist

Gracia Isabel Gomez

Originally from Mexico City, Gracia Isabel Gomez graduated with honours from the Ceramics Program at Sheridan College in 2016. Her work has been exhibited locally and internationally. She has participated in various workshops and mentorship programs, and currently works as a ceramic artist and instructor in the Greater Toronto Area. Gracia Isabel draws inspiration from mythology and her own dream world. She uses clay to express the hybrid traditions of her country, and to consider the ways that colonialism transforms cultures.
