Miguel Deras Zapata: Wall Pieces titled Biodiversity (Sold as set-of-three), awarded the PSH Materials Award

Miguel’s work is inspired by the sensuous and spiritual aspects of nature and humanity’s close relationship to it.  In creating his sculptures he examines seeds, plants and fragments of the bodies of animals, and refers to the ceremonial objects used in the rituals of various cultures.  The combination of clays, glazes, oxides and different firing methods adds to the process and final product reflecting on the power of the natural and spiritual world that surrounds us.  Hand crafted each wall piece will slightly vary in colour, pattern, size and weight.  Retail Feature: Toronto Potters Biennial Exhibition titled FLUX Biodiversity was juried by Denis Longchamps (Executive Director and Chief Curator of The Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery) and Susan Low-Beer (Award Winning Ceramic Artist).
