Monika Minnis: Sculpture titled Vessel Sink

TP_EX_-Monika-Minnis-February-16,-2020-047-edit-web

Description

“There’s something satisfying about rolling out clay; a lump of earth becomes a layer of possibility, yielding to the whim of the hand. It’s pretty neat how the mud beneath our own feet can be art and inspiration waiting to happen.” ~ Monika Minnis.  She starts the process with hand building and rolling out clay into organic functional shapes, and applies sgraffito (to scratch) technique by applying slips or underglazes to scratch/carve illustration design.  Hand crafted it will slightly vary in colour, pattern, size and weight.  Retail Feature: Toronto Potters Biennial Exhibition titled FLUX Vessel Sink was juried by Denis Longchamps (Executive Director and Chief Curator of The Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery) and Susan Low-Beer (Award Winning Ceramic Artist).
