Valentina Guevara: Lidded Jar with Cherry Ornament titled Falling Out of Place (Sold as set-of-two)



Valentina’s work often incorporates floral designs and she names Georgia O’Keeffe and Tina Modotti as main influences.  She used ground cherries and dipped it in translucent porcelain slip for the ornaments, creating a beautiful airy and light effect and the lidded jar was wheel thrown.  Hand crafted each piece will slightly vary in colour, pattern, size and weight.  Retail Feature: Toronto Potters Biennial Exhibition titled FLUX Falling Out of Place was juried by Denis Longchamps (Executive Director and Chief Curator of The Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery) and Susan Low-Beer (Award Winning Ceramic Artist).

About The Artist

Valentina Guevara

Valentina’s relationship with Mexico is like that of monarch butterflies; having a home in two places. She moved from Toluca, Mexico to Montreal over a decade ago, however she still maintains a deep connection to her Mexican roots. After earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2006 from Concordia University in Montreal (specializing in ceramics and painting), she further developed her skills working at Mosaika Art & Design doing ceramics for public art.
