Wendy Lisa Nichol: Curved Figurative Form


Wendy’s curved figure experiments with the sculptural form.  She coils the walls of the clay to contain an impression of touch and hollows within to create still movement and rhythm within the piece.  Burnishing the exterior with a polished stone, it is left unglazed to highlight the trace of her hand through stroke and gesture. Fired to cone 6 the form will slightly vary in colour, pattern, size and weight.  Retail Feature: Toronto Potters Biennial Exhibition titled FLUX Curved Figurative Form was juried by Denis Longchamps (Executive Director and Chief Curator of The Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery) and Susan Low-Beer (Award Winning Ceramic Artist).

Care & Use: Decorative sculptural object. It can be cleaned with a soft dry cloth to remove any dust or spot cleaned with a warm soapy cloth (please do not submerge the base in water).

About The Artist

Wendy Lisa Nichol

Wendy Lisa Nichol is a ceramic artist based in Toronto. She received a BFA in Drawing & Painting with a minor in Material Arts & Design from OCAD University in 2014. She has exhibited work at the Gardiner Museum and various group shows in Toronto, Ottawa, New York and a solo show in Vernon BC. She continues to experiment with sculptural forms and functional wares utilizing different methods of hand-building and surface design treatment.
