Marissa Y Alexander is a ceramic artist based in Hamilton, Ontario. Working in both functional and sculptural forms, she builds with clay to explore the interplay between structure and surface. Through coil building, she invents distinctive forms, while her richly patterned surfaces evoke narratives. Reflecting on everyday life and imagine idealized worlds within contemporary reality.
Marissa received her MFA in Ceramic Art from Alfred University and previously held a full-time Artist-in-Residence position at the Harbourfront Centre. Her work is in numerous public and private collections, and she has exhibited nationally and internationally, earning recognition through awards and residencies.
