Description

I build bears at the edge of cliffs and ice. Each sculpture is hand-built using marbling techniques that layer earth-toned and ocean-toned clays into flowing, curvy forms. These floating, organic shapes surround the bear—suggesting wind, water, or shifting ground—while the bear itself stands still, poised between worlds. My bears are not threats or victims. They are dignified presences. Each piece offers a distinct vision of this animal: still, watchful, intact in its own being. In return, these visions ask for a human posture of humility—and an emergency protective action. Climate changes. Ledges shrink. Yet the bear teaches resilience. The floating curves remind us that even in crisis, there is grace. Bearing invites you to stand at the edge, to listen, and to join forces. Together we are one. – Christy Chor
