About The Artist

Cochrane & Monostory: Bruce Cochrane & Zsuzsa Monostory

Cochrane & Monostory create collaborative works that function both as containers and as sculptural objects.

Bruce Cochrane's work explores the evolving structure of pottery, balancing wheel-thrown forms with geometric slab-built construction.  The disciplined forms are transformed through atmospheric wood firing at 2400°F, where flame and ash create unpredictable surfaces that soften the precision of the vessels with rich colour and natural markings.

Zsuzsa Monostory's work is inspired by architecture, nature, and the living world. With a background in biology, she is particularly drawn to the human figure.  Exploring gesture, emotion, and relationships through ceramic sculpture. Her animal sculptures combine anatomical accuracy with an understanding of behaviour and social structure.  As a result. creative narratives are formed, celebrating the complexity of life. Environmental concerns remain central to her practice. Using art as a means to inspire awareness and connection with the natural world.

Together, their collaborative ceramics unite vessel and figure, function and sculpture, tradition and contemporary expression.
