The Gardiner Museum is 40 years old! To celebrate, we invite you to contribute to a community-sourced exhibition featuring beloved objects from the Museum’s permanent collection. The exhibition will honour the relationships created between our community and the collection over the past 40 years, and inspire new connections.

Choose an object that sparks joy or is tied to a particular memory. Or discover a new favourite by searching our online database for hidden gems from the vault. A selection of the objects submitted by our community members will be presented in an exhibition in our Joan Courtois Gallery—spanning three floors of the Museum’s soaring glass stairwell—beginning in October 2024.

How To Participate:

Select an object from the Gardiner Museum’s permanent collection and nominate it to be included in our 40^th Anniversary exhibition. Use the online form to submit your choice along with a brief description of what makes the piece special or meaningful to you.

Access our full collection online to find information about your most loved object or discover a new favourite. Or click here for a list of objects currently in storage and ready for the spotlight!

Once all the submissions have been received, our Curatorial Team will narrow the selections down and develop an exhibition that celebrates both our community and our collection. Your favourite object may end up being featured, along with your name and the description of why you submitted that piece.
