Clay Activity: Coil It!

Coiling is an ancient and fun clay technique you can use to create big structures or simple pots. Can you spot examples of coiled pottery in the Ancient Americas Gallery? We’ll show you how to make clay coil Christmas trees in the Community Clay Studio, or you can create bowls, cups, vases, animals, or decorative ornaments.
Admission is free for visitors 18 and under every day!*
*Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult and each accompanying adult must purchase a general admission ticket. Children cannot be left unattended at any time.
