Students have the option of exploring decorating techniques directly on pieces of pottery or working on experimental tiles. This class is open to beginners who are interested in the graphic qualities of ceramics or students with any level of pottery-making or sculpture skill who want to extent their knowledge of surface treatment.

Dates: July 30, August 6, August 13, August 20

  • 4 sessions
  • Beginner to advanced
  • Ages 18+
  • Earthenware clay
  • Hand building and wheel throwing (6 wheels available for use)
  • Decorating techniques including slipwork, sgraffito, mishima (in-lay), carving, sprigging, cuerda seca, stenciling, resist and image transfer
  • 70 commercial brushing glazes

Health & Safety

  • Our class sizes have been reduced and the distance between participants at tables and wheels has been increased to allow for physical distancing
  • You must wear a mask during class
  • A COVID screening questionnaire must be filled out before each class
  • Studios are sanitized between classes
  • Hand sanitizer is available for your use
  • If you want to use an apron, please bring one from home. Alternatively, you can purchase a disposable apron for $1
  • There are no make-up classes. Please make sure the course you choose works with your schedule.
