In accordance with the announcement by the provincial government, the Gardiner Museum has closed temporarily. The health and safety of our visitors, staff, and the wider community remains our top priority. We'll continue to provide you with engaging digital content to keep us connected while the galleries are closed.
During our temporary closure, we're posting exhibitions and selections from our collection online. Discover Inuit ceramics, Chinese and Japanese porcelain, pottery from the Ancient Americas, and more!
On Thursday April 29 at 1 pm, join us for a free online lecture with Professor Alison McQueen, who will discuss the significant contributions of women working at Sèvres in the first century of its history. The presentation will feature works from leading international porcelain collections and bring attention to the often-overlooked roles of women retouching glaze, laying down prints, and burnishing. Register now!
Every object in our permanent collection can be accessed through our eMuseum portal. Learn about individual collecting areas, like Italian Maiolica or Modern and Contemporary Ceramics, or search the full collection by keyword. You'll be amazed by what you discover!
With the Museum closed temporarily, we need your support to continue to offer innovative and engaging exhibitions, programs, and community projects online, as well as plan for the future. Please consider making a donation to help us build community with clay.

As part of the exhibition Works for Change by Madeleine Co., Artist Kaya Joan will blast the speakers and lead a DIY workshop on how to make self-published magazines that can get your social message out there.
About Works for Change
The Works for Change exhibition recreates the film set of This Art Works!, which will serve as the backdrop to a program of how-to workshops and performances led by This Art Works! artists about their creative practices. Spanning one of the walls of the space, the audience can also join in the collective creation of a large-scale artwork.
Known for projects that re-imagine social issues through experiential storytelling and multimedia art, Madeleine Co. is excited to share sneak peeks from the series This Art Works! and unlock the potential for the public to contribute to art-making and social change.
About the Community Arts Space: Art Is Change
The Gardiner Museum’s unique history and identity is rooted in the city, but its future is increasingly shaped by those beyond the core cultural corridor. As space increasingly becomes a premium downtown, the Gardiner has collaborated with six cultural and community partners to consider how institutional outreach can be re-shaped by local artists, curators, and architects. Looking to the rapid high-rise developments happening within the Museum’s own Yorkville neighbourhood, the projects in Art is Change consider how the city’s unique and varied local histories of art and social activism can be re-mapped for the future.
