Description

Annie strives to imbue meaning at each stage of the process. She starts with a general concept, before printing on the clay with home-made slips, inks, and/or underglazes, then incorporates those components into the work. As a result, her vessels are expressive in colour, shape and form.  Handcrafted each piece will slightly vary in colour, pattern, size and weight.

Care & Use: Pieces are sculptural and intended for display.

About The Artist

Annie McDonald

Annie McDonald has been making ceramics in her studio in Brighton, Ontario since 2003. She honed her skills in using low-fire clay through intensive summer workshops including the Lunenburg School of the Arts, and had the opportunity to follow three separate Fusion mentorship programs. Annie developed a ceramics program at the secondary school where she worked as an art teacher. She has participated in group and solo shows with her ceramics, both locally and in Toronto. In 2019, she was honoured with the "Best in Clay" award at the Fusion Show at Wychwood Barns. She sells work from her studio, and at the Gardiner Museum Shop. McDonald earneda B.A.(honours) in cultural theory with an emphasis on fine art at Trent University.
