Description
Catherine Thomas is an artist who works with clay, reclaimed wood and found objects. She creates sculptural & functional objects which reflect the beauty and fragility of the urban and natural environments using these materials. She works almost exclusively in a reduction atmosphere with wood as fuel: This creates complex surfaces which have been marked through a process which tests the integrity of the object just as the way our lives are tested through our existence. We relate to the object, then, as a reference to our own lives reflected on the surface with its scars, marks and flaws.
