Description

Artist Statement:

Sudan is wounded but still alive, carried and supported by the battered Sudanese people, who are holding on to her for support and survival. The war is chaotic and surviving it even more so. I found the warmest form of expression when I found clay. I am intrigued by the spirit clay carries through centuries of ancestry to find its place in the routine of our daily rituals. Through hand-built forms and strokes of underglaze, I retell the story of my culture, impelled by the strong voices of Sudanese women ushered by the beats of the drum – Enas Satir
