Description

Inspired by time spent in the deep woods, Jordan has found a fascination with the lore of witches. The Baba Yaga is a witch from Slavic folklore, said to devour the souls of children—but the real story is more complex, explaining Baba Yaga as a guide that brings seekers to a new level of self awareness. Jordan has created these playful pieces as an anecdote to the villainization of women with magic and power. Intentionally friendly and sweet, this luminary depicts the Baba Yaga sitting beside her iconic home: the hut on chicken legs.

About The Artist

Jordan Danger

Jordan Danger is an award-winning queer, genderqueer artist in the Ottawa Valley working primarily in clay, with a background in illustration, animation, and painting. Danger is known for pushing the boundaries between art and craft, and for experimenting with mixing genres and mediums. Danger began a career in the arts two decades ago and has worked primarily in clay for over half that time. Danger makes many purely sculptural works but also takes great pleasure in creating artworks out of functional forms, as a means to integrate artwork into the most utilitarian parts of the home. Known for whimsy and surrealism, Danger’s work is rich in storytelling and commentary in a gentle, accessible way.
