Konzuk: March Balloons Hoop Earrings in Taliesin Red Colourway

Description

In partnership with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, KONZUK proudly launched the official FLW jewelry collection. The Motif Series—the first of others to follow—interprets the algorithmic geometry and unembellished materials found in Wright’s design and architectural projects. Particular influences were drawn from Frank Lloyd Wright’s unpublished 1927, Liberty Magazine cover submissions. Each piece is hand made and will slightly vary in colour, pattern, size and weight.

About The Artist

Karen Konzuk

A graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Karen earned a BFA with a major in Jewelry Design and a minor in Art History and then introduced the KONZUK line shortly after graduation. Karen started experimenting with stainless steel and concrete in 1999. While the unorthodox materials inspired her, their use required that she retrain herself since standard jewelry making rarely calls for industrial elements. The properties of these medium calls for an understanding of unique tools and manufacturing methods. Through trial and error, Karen preserved to create a collection that was unlike anything her peers and mentors were creating. Her diligence resulted in a collection of pieces that reflected the designer’s keen interest in industrial design and architecture. Through a studied use of clean lines and unwavering commitment to a minimalist renowned contemporary line of jewelry.
