Clay Activity: Face It

Multiple-face jar, 300 BCE - 200 CE, Colima, Mexico, Gift of George and Helen Gardiner, G83.1.39

If you look closely at this jar from Colima, located in the Mesoamerican section of the Ancient Americas Gallery, you’ll notice faces emerging from its surface. Recreate this effect on your own clay vessel. Remember, admission is free for visitors 18 and under!*

Clay demonstrations will take place at 11:30 am and 1:30 pm.

*Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
